Is CBD Better Than Nicotine?

Nicotine can become addictive and lead to dependency; CBD (cannabidiol) is non-psychoactive compared to nicotine; therefore it will not give a high or cause many of its side effects like dry mouth, drowsiness or changes in appetite or heart rate. CBD also boasts several medical applications which may help relieve pain, reduce anxiety and depression levels, combat psychosis disorders as well as improve sleep quality among others.

However, both offer their own benefits; ultimately the decision lies within your personal preference. There are various vape products available including CBD E-Liquid which has become an increasingly popular alternative among smokers looking for healthier solutions.

Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center researchers led by Yasmin Thanavala from its Department of Immunology conducted a new study published in Thorax that explored acute inhalation of aerosols from commercially available nicotine and CBD vape products, measuring antioxidant levels, oxidative stress and inflammation levels among mice exposed to them. Results demonstrated that inhaling CBD aerosol caused more inflammatory changes while killing purified neutrophils or white blood cells more efficiently than nicotine did.

Figure 4A-C shows a higher leak rate from rats exposed to CBD vapor than air control or nicotine (figure 4A-C, left panels and online supplemental table E3), consistent with increased epithelial cell damage caused by elevated inflammatory reactions and oxidative stress caused by inhaling CBD aerosol. These findings align with increased cell damage observed due to higher inflammation responses and oxidative stress following CBD aerosol inhalation.
