What Does CBD Percentage Mean?

Are You Exploring CBD Products or CBD Alternatives for the First Time? If you are already an established cannabis consumer or just beginning your CBD explorations, chances are you have seen ratios on product labels ranging from 1:1 all the way up to THC:CBD ratios like 20:1. While most people measure milligram doses by measuring how many drops of their favorite oil or spray they take per dose, some suppliers (including us!) also include another metric on their labels – percentage.

This metric displays the ratio of THC and CBD present in a product, making it more useful when trying to assess how strong its formulation may be than milligram strength alone. For instance, if a product boasts a ratio of 5:1, that means there is five times as much CBD per dose compared with THC present.

Find the ideal CBD:THC ratio can be tricky, so it is recommended that you experiment under the guidance of a medical marijuana doctor or cannabis wellness expert. That way, you’ll know you aren’t taking in too much THC and experiencing any unwanted side effects.

As a beginner in cannabis, we recommend starting off with a CBD:THC ratio of 0:1, and gradually increasing it until you find the ideal product for yourself. The higher CBD in this ratio is likely to reduce psychoactive effects associated with THC while increasing efficacy – for instance a product with higher CBD:THC may be more effective at treating anxiety than ones with lower ratios.
