Just like anything stored incorrectly, kratom can gradually degrade over time if exposed to air and moisture; but by taking a few simple steps you can ensure it lasts longer and remains potency.
When it comes to storing kratom, oxygen and moisture should be avoided at all costs to help limit oxidation, which causes many problems for supplements and foods like metal rusting and vitamin pills becoming rancid or unpleasant smelling.
To avoid this problem, we advise storing kratom in a dark environment away from direct sunlight. This will also make it easier to see your stash, encouraging you to consume it sooner before it spoils. Alternatively, freezing can prolong its shelf life further – although be mindful that this may alter its flavor and aroma.
No matter where you store your kratom, we suggest always using opaque packaging. Clear jars or bags allow light and moisture to enter, speeding up its aging process and possibly leading to early expiration. Also try to limit temperature fluctuations as much as possible as this could reduce its lifespan as sudden shifts could lead to condensation inside of its container, potentially leading to mold growth and shortening its shelf life.
